"LA's fine, but it ain't home
New York's home, but it ain't mine no more."
Story of my life.
February 2, 1987, Terry Waite, a church envoy, was kidnapped by an Islamic militia group in Lebanon. It wasn't until over four years later that he was finally released, on November 18, 1991.
I remember him because every day in the paper, on the inside of page two or three I think it was, a little box with his picture and a caption reminded readers of the number of days he'd been missing.
February 2 is also noted for the death of Sid Vicious and the dismantling of apartheid in South Africa. I love the On This Day page at the BBC.
